Custom software for UK SMEs

We build software that works for your business

Web applications, client portals, mobile apps and internal systems — designed around how your team actually works, shipped in two-week sprints and supported long after launch.

What we build

Turning daily operations into software

  • Web apps & portals

Client portals, booking and ordering tools, dashboards — fast, secure and built for real users.

  • Mobile apps

iOS and Android apps, native or cross-platform, from first prototype to App Store release.

  • Business systems

CRM, stock and job tracking, approvals — the spreadsheets that run your business, turned into one system.

  • Integrations & cloud

APIs that make your tools talk to each other, and a clean move to the cloud when you outgrow the server room.

Why PTAS

Directly in your workflow, not another tool to manage

We start with how your team works today: who enters what, where things get stuck, which reports nobody trusts. Then we build exactly the software that removes that friction — no bloated platform, no licence you outgrow.

  • You own the code, the repositories and the cloud accounts
  • A working demo every two weeks, not a big reveal at the end
  • Clear, written estimates before any sprint starts

Our approach

Small steps, visible progress, no surprises

Every project follows the same path, scaled to its size. You always know what is being built this sprint, what it costs and what comes next.

Every merge is built, tested and deployed the same way — releases become routine.

How we work

How we work, actually

Five stages, each with an output you keep even if you stop there. It starts with discovery workshops and a clickable prototype — scope, architecture and a fixed estimate before any code is written.

  1. 01 Discovery
  2. 02 Prototype

  1. Sprints

Two-week cycles with a working demo at the end of each. You approve, we adjust, we move on.

  2. Launch

Production set-up, data migration, App Store and Google Play release, team training.

  3. Support & growth

Monitoring, updates and a roadmap of improvements based on how people really use it.

    • Uptime monitoring and backups
    • Hours for small improvements
    Ask about support

Typical briefs

Let's build your product together

  • Wholesale distributor

    Business system

"Orders arrive by email and phone, stock lives in three spreadsheets." — a typical start for an order and stock system with a trade customer portal.

  • Field service company

    Mobile app

Engineers need jobs, photos and customer sign-off on a phone that works offline — and the office needs to see it live.

  • Professional services firm

    Client portal

Clients ask for the same documents every week. A secure portal with uploads, status and messages takes that off the inbox.

  • E-commerce retailer

    Integration

Online shop, accounting and courier tools re-typed by hand. Integrations remove the copy-paste and the errors that come with it.

  • Legacy system owner

    Cloud & support

An in-house app on an ageing server that only one person understands. We document it, move it to the cloud and take over support.

FAQ

Have more questions? We've got answers.

How much does custom software cost?

Most first releases for UK SMEs land between £8,000 and £40,000, depending on scope. The prices above are honest starting points; after a short call we send a written estimate broken down by feature, so you can cut or add items yourself.

Who owns the code and the intellectual property?

You do. Repositories, cloud accounts and domain registrations are created in your name or transferred to you, and IP is assigned to your company on payment.

How long does a typical project take?

A focused MVP usually takes 8–14 weeks after discovery. Integrations and automations are often live within 2–6 weeks. You see working software every two weeks along the way.

Can you take over an app another developer built?

Yes. We start with a paid audit of the code, hosting and security, tell you plainly what state it is in, and then propose a support plan or a gradual rebuild.

How do you handle our customer data?

When we access your systems we act as a processor under Article 28 UK GDPR and sign a data processing agreement. Access is granted on a least-privilege basis and removed when the work ends. Details are in our privacy policy.

Tools and platforms we work with

  • AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud
  • React
  • Next.js
  • Node.js
  • .NET
  • Python
  • Flutter
  • Swift
  • Kotlin
  • PostgreSQL
  • Docker

UK GDPR

A data processing agreement before we touch your systems

Whenever a project needs access to your customer or staff data, we work as your processor under Article 28 UK GDPR, on a signed DPA that lists what we may do, where data is stored and which sub-processors are involved.

  • Least-privilege access

Named accounts, only the permissions a task needs, multi-factor authentication everywhere, and access removed when the work ends.

  • Separate environments

Development and testing run on anonymised or synthetic data; production data stays in production.

  • Checks in the pipeline

Dependency scanning, secret detection and code review on every change before it reaches your users.
